 Barbados is a still a relative newcomer to the business of brewing beer, but in a very
short period of time, it has already made a significant mark on the beer brewing world.
Brewing Tradition
Banks Brewery opened the doors to the very first Barbadian brewery on
September 7, 1961. The brewery has enjoyed great success since,
quickly capturing the domestic market and winning international awards for
its pilsner-style lagers.
Banks Brewery attributes the success of its flagship lager to "Barbados' water, naturally filtered through limestone rock, ... which give[s] Banks Beer its unique Bajan character and distinctive quality." Banks Beer is beginning to gain an international audience with its Legends Export, currently available in the United Kingdom and in Northern Ireland.
